Living On...

Laura just sent us the latest from her new clothing line at http://lollybrand.net/...

...darling little boy shirts...

...but what's more is the story that's behind them... ...Laura's dear, sweet daddy passed away on
Thursday, September 10th after a battle with cancer......the artwork for her clothing line comes
from his personal collection of drawings.
What an amazing way to keep his love alive.
My boys will wear them proudly.
Thank you, Laura, for sharing a piece of him with us!

ONE year statistics

Dylan's one year doctors appointment summary:

  • Weighed 25 pounds which put him in the 75th - 90th percentile for weight.
  • Measured 31 inches which is 75th - 90th for height also.
  • And his head was 19 1/2 inches which is 95th percentile - and in their defense they noticed the huge jump in head circumference from last visit (from being not on the charts to almost being off the chart) and double checked this time and admitted they probably made a mistake before.
  • He totaled 5 shots, 2 bandaids, one loud but short outburst, and discovered he really likes fruit snacks (but only got like 3).

Tyler for today:

  • Called Grampa and informed him "baby" was going to the doctor to get lots of shots. But he was a big boy so he didn't need any - mom verified his story.
  • Mom realized flu shots were available and jumped on that - even though that made her a mean liar.
  • Tyler lost it for WAY too long over a tiny prick and couldn't seem to calm down.
  • He totaled one shot, one bandaid, three stickers, two packages of fruit snacks, and a kids meal from Burger King.
  • Proudly showed everyone at Preschool his bandaid and informed them he was brave...mom couldn't verify that story and neither could the rest of the hospital that heard him screaming.

Its fun to stay at the...

...Y-M-C-A! Its fun to stay at the Y-M-C-A! Young man, there's no need to feel down. Young man, pick yourself off the ground. They have everything that you need to enjoy... ...I really need to start singing that song to Dylan. We recently joined the Y. I put it off for a while because I couldn't justify spending the money when I have a free gym at our community center and two others on base. However, if you have a broken treadmill at home and no husband to watch your kids, then you can't really take advantage of that. So I joined...for the free (& wonderful) day care. And I'm glad I did. Only I haven't been able to get through a workout yet. They always have to come get me because Dylan starts to lose it and won't calm down (I haven't had a kid do this to me before?!). I figure he'll get used to it eventually - and learn to love it. After all...
...You can stay there, and I'm sure you will find, Many ways to have a good time.
Its fun to stay at the Y-M-C-A!

Brynn and Tyler love playing in the Day Care. And the two of them are also in a Tumble Teddies (gymnastics) class on Monday nights together. They are too cute. PJ got to come watch for a little bit this week and he found it very entertaining to watch them.

Air Show

We live on an Air Force Base - which is awesome and fun...especially when it comes time for the Air Show. Daddy was missing in action yesterday, so instead of going over and fighting the crowds without him, we marched ourselves just down the road to one of our neighborhood parks (which happen to be right in front of the landing strip) to have a picnic, hang out, and enjoy the show.

It did get a little loud at times...

And when Dylan needed a nap we went home and finished watching from our front yard.

Back to School Bash

The PTO at Brynn's school put on a very nice Back to School Bash this evening. PJ is on a 30 hour shift so I decided to head over with the kids before we were at home babysitting friends for the night.
Brynn was a good big sister and helped Tyler stand in line for the bouncy thing. The other big kids kept trying to cut in front of him so she kept pulling him closer. Interestingly enough Tyler wanted to go on it over and over - why is this interesting?!?...because I was a sweet mom and took him to Monkey Joe's today for playgroup and he wouldn't play and have fun so we left.

Then we had a hot dog dinner. Once again I didn't get it... this is Tyler's favorite meal and he insisted that he didn't like hot dogs (?????). And Brynn (who has never liked hot dogs and doesn't eat them) scarfed it down (?????)...they must be much better if her school makes them.

Dylan got a hold of mine somehow and quite enjoyed himself. Good (and confusing) times!
