Target and Dr Seuss

We went to Target on Saturday because they were having a Dr Seuss reading time...

(Jonathan and Lorelai Morgan, Tyler) (Tyler and Dylan on the right checking out their goodie bags)
It took a little work convincing PJ that that's what he wanted to spend his Saturday morning doing. But since he couldn't come up with a better plan I won.
The kids sat and listened to several stories. And they got a goodie bag that included snacks, drinks, coloring book, crayons, and other fun stuff to play with...

Very fun. Once we got PJ to Target he must have gotten in the mood cause he blurted out to the kids "maybe you guys can get a toy while we are here too". Huh?! OK, so they each got to pick out a toy when we were done. (Because you know they don't understand the word 'maybe') They were living the high life that day.

"She earned it!"

Earlier this week I got a postcard in the mail informing me that Brynn was chosen as Student of the Month. Oh I was thrilled. After waiting all last school year with anticipation Brynn was finally chosen the last month of the year. And so not only did she get it again, but this time we don't have to wait and agonize. I emailed her teacher to thank her and explain that this kind of acknowledgement/reward does wonders for Brynn so I appreciated her recognizing Brynn. Her teachers response... "She earned it!" We are very proud of her for always trying so hard at school.
Tyler and I got to go to the breakfast and recognition ceremony with her this morning before school...
... over breakfast Tyler was wondering if he was student of the month. And so Brynn and I explained to him why Brynn got it and what he could do to also possibly earn it also. What a good big sister to be a that kind of an example to her brother.

With her teacher Mrs. Bertrand and then the group picture that will be in the newspaper...

Way to go Brynn!...

Tyler came home with this from school yesterday...

... apparently on their 100th day of school they got to think about what they would do if they had $100. I was pretty sure I knew what it was but asked Tyler to tell me about it. Yep, he said that if he had $100 he'd buy a real Finn McMissile - he was positivie that he and Dylan would have a lot of fun with it :)

Presidents Day Entertainment

This past weekend was a three day weekend for the kids due to Presidents Day on Monday. But PJ had a 30 hour shift at the hospital Saturday to Sunday and then of course didn't have Monday off either. But I did (no Brennen to watch). So we called up Gramma and Grampa Peper to see if they would be around so we could come play. We left to drive over Saturday morning. And after we all had lunch and played for a bit we decided to head over to WonderLab because it had been a long time since we'd been there. They kids had a blast and it was Grampa's first time going...

Kate loved this magnetic table. Every time she got something to stick and then pulled it off she'd turn around and give Grampa the best looks. I tried to catch a few...

And after a yummy Cracker Barrel dinner we went home for ice cream and bed...

Today is the 100th day of Kindergarten and Tyler needed to take 100 of something in. So over the weekend we made him a neat toy to take in...

...it was a water bottle full of 100 boy things (balls, screws, cars). They were all metal brads. So we strung a magnet onto the lid and you could move the stuff around inside. Very cool. And it was sweet to see how Tyler took the time to teach Dylan how to safely use the tools when he climbed up to help.
Brynn always loves and requests Grampa's mashed potatoes but this time she decided to help and learn how to do it. She's a great potato peeler!

One afternoon the kids got a rousing game of hide and seek going with Grampa...

And while everyone else was playing hide and seek Kate was very busy taking all the babies and stuffed animals over to Gramma one by one to care for them.

Glad we could squeeze in some fun with them this weekend! And we got a text from daddy about how "celestial" it was to come home after his 30 hour shift and sleep for 5 hours with no noise or interruption. And it helped that he got to go play golf on Monday late afternoon before we got home ;) Looks like everyone won!
