4 Months

Dylan turned 4 months old today. He weighed in at 15 lbs 14.5 oz which put him in the 75th% for weight. And he measured 25.75 inches which put him in the 75th - 90th% for height. So as the doctor obviously stated, his height and weight are staying very proportionate and he is growing very well. Dylan has started to grab for and play with toys and even likes to stare at the TV when the kids have a show on or daddy is watching sports (I know, its starting so early). And he can finally even drink regular/cold formula without having it spit out the sides of his mouth - which I think is a big step since that means I don't have to heat up water in the middle of the night anymore. Speaking of the middle of the night, after the holidays and having everyone around to hold and love him, Dylan decided that he didn't like to be put down at night. So at the ripe age of 3 1/2 months we decide he would have to cry it out. It became not as hard for me this time since I was SO tired and think I actually fell asleep for most of it seeing as he cried most of the night. However, that one night was all it took and he is back to getting up only 1 or 2 times most nights. Good boy!
For "Christmas" we got Dylan some hardware to our playset so that we could add a baby swing...and today we've just gotten around to actually hanging it up. I think he really enjoyed it, and now it will be easier to be outside with all three of the kids since he has somewhere better to hang out.

Bowties

Well, at least this cheesy face is a little clean this time...finally! But that's not really the point of this post. I would like to know everyone's opinion on something. I decided that my boys, cute as they are, would look absolutely darling in bowties. I like bowties. However, PJ about flipped his lid when I came home with one, and went off about how we only dress our kids in things we would wear (i have always agreed with that logic). So, apparently he would never be caught dead in a bowtie - and honestly I don't think I would want him to wear one, he wouldn't look so cute. But just look at that face...and that bowtie...so I showed up at Church (PJ has to go early for meetings) with Tyler all decked out in it anyway. Here's where your opnion comes in - have I totally lost it???? Or is it really OK for me to make my boys wear bowties?? (And yes, he actually left it on all day. I couldn't have been prouder.) I'm pretty sure my next project will be for me to learn how to sew them so I can choose out the cool material - not to mention you can't really find them anywhere. K, so, I'll probably still do it anyway but I thought I should know where I stand.

Follow-Up

Tyler went in for his follow-up doctors appointment today (http://keddyskorner.blogspot.com/2008/12/poor-baby.html). He has become very sensitive about his nose - he won't let us clean it or wipe it or touch it or anything. So yesterday we started talking to him about how he was going back to see his nose doctor. He would just get a big smile on his face and say "shot" and go about his business. Uh...ok... Then today he was happy as could be as he sat in the office, and even when the doctor came in. But then when the doc's instruments came out Tyler LOST IT completely just like we were expecting. No I was not a strong enough mom to be there, but PJ was there to hold him down while the splits were pulled out. Everything looked pretty good. He does have a small infection at the base of his nose but nothing to worry about. He'll go back in for another check up in 6 weeks. Until then here's hoping he sleeps - I think he literally got up at least once every hour last night. Ahhh...the joys of parenthood.

Bye-bye little Geo

I didn't think this day would actually come. This is my good, trusty Geo Prism. The first car I ever bought myself right after I got my first full-time job at BYU. It looks like a piece, but really, it runs great and we never had problems with it. I thought we would always have this car. I thought Brynn would get it (lucky girl) when she turned 16. But seeing as she is still a ways away from driving, and PJ thought he needed something a little nicer (don't know why), we didn't think we should really keep 3 cars. So we gave her away last night. And as we were getting it cleaned & ready to hand over, the cleaner guy offered us $1200 cash right there on the spot for it. At least it is nice knowing it is still wanted and loved. Thanks Carol for letting me buy it from you! Its been good for us!!

On a side note: PJ has always said his car is his car - it is the one place I am not allowed to take charge of, order him around in or have him keep clean. So, as he was forced to clean it out before we got rid of it, we pulled out 14 empty cans of pop, 12 socks, a GAZILLION school papers, 1 tie, Brynn's missing sunglasses, 2 snow scrapers, 1 hanger, 5 golf balls and a golf ball cleaning kit, and lots of other misc. items...need I contine?! I'm sure that there is a new found respect for his new car and that won't happen again.

Tyler Update

Thank you for all the calls we've been getting of people checking up on Tyler. Honestly, the week has been rough for him. PJ and I both agree that the doctor completely downplayed the recovery process. We weren't prepared for the drainage, the even worse breathing, the serious stench, the drooling, the throwing up of all the saliva in his tummy, the extreme emotions/constant crying, just everything. He spent many nights this week sleeping with me because he couldn't make it more than an hour without waking up crying. For some reason he won't wear shirts, they seem to bother him...and so he is usually just in a diaper. This whole process makes me very scared for many years down the road when they have to go in and fix his septum which is the real problem.

Anyway, you don't have to listen to this sound clip but its just an example of him struggling at night to sleep/breath...which is why we needed to at least try this procedure. We are still hoping that after he recovers it will have helped. Notice during this clip that at times he goes at least 10 seconds of not breathing before he startles himself into breathing again. I lay there at night with him and its just painful to listen too. My poor baby (and sorry about the other baby crying in the background)...

Oh rise & shout the Cougars are out...

A true fan? I don't know...you tell me...but I don't think there is any secret where our allegiance lies...
I also got PJ this huge Y sticker for his car for Christmas but didn't have it on because the windows hadn't been tinted yet. On a side note, it took hours and about 5,000 tries to get the stupid thing on perfectly. We don't work well together on projects like this - we would be an absolute disaster on the Amazing Race. I asked him if he thought he would get in trouble because of vision problems and he said he didn't care :) Don't worry the vision is really fine. He also got the liscense plate cover as a gift from his mom.
If you look carefully you'll also see the Y sugar cookie waiting for Santa. We're sure he is a BYU Cougar fan too.And it took a miracle, or at least a precious car which inspired some motivation, to fit both vehicles in the garage for the first time in 4 years!!! Yes, he went on a cleaning binge and after all his hard work and determination both the cars fit. Now, me being able to get in with the kids is a totally different story.

Uncle Dallin Visits

This is our special Uncle Dallin...
He saw the post I did on Uncle TJ visiting and he wanted to know why he didn't get his own. So, despite the fact that he gives me a hard time for having a blog, here is my tribute to him (maybe he'll actually leave a comment for once).

He and Brynn have always been especially close. He was living with us when she was born and he spent many hours "babysitting" while PJ and I were at work. They had lots of fun and adventures hanging out back in the day. I can recall one time he tried calling me to come home early because she had gone #2...well she exploded really...and I walked in just as he was using scissors to cut her out of her dirty onsie. Oh Dal... Here they are playing doggy playdoh:Here he is nice and clean shaven. Dylan is wearing the darling basketball outfit that Aunt Laura picked out for his Christmas present. He may be following in his Uncle Dallin's footsteps by being so tall so maybe he'll play college ball too.
Another pic of Dallin and Dylan (in his sling). Dallin wonders why we didn't just go ahead and name Dylan Dallin. I have to admit I found myself mixing the names up when we were together over Christmas.

Here Dallin is using one of his many skills to build a really tall tower out of bricks before Tyler can knock it down.

Speaking of skills...apparently he is a wiz-kid at Guitar Hero. And Laura is beautifully wonderful as his back-up on vocals.
While he excels in many areas, big brother PJ can still beat him at many things...like ping pong.

For Christmas Dallin and Laura got me a pasta maker/food grinder attachment for my Kitchen Aid (which they were also so generous to have given me for my birthday). I was very excited and thought I would be cute and fun and just whip up some homemade pasta with homemade alreado sauce for dinner. It was a disaster! The pasta wasn't working and so the sauce got neglected...but Dallin ate it anyway...

We sure do love it when Uncle Dallin comes to visit!
