Another relapse

So speaking of past incidences... 'cause you know I was not so long ago...

Apparently Tyler has also choosen to repeat some past mistakes and make me wonder what in the world my kids are thinking lately. Remember this... http://keddyskorner.blogspot.com/2010/03/graffiti-artist.html

Yes, when Tyler decided to become a graffiti artist and leave "T"'s literally everywhere and on everything?! Well guess what I found the other day? Look closely...

Yep. Not as clear in picture as it is in real life. But that's a "T". In red permanent marker. On the tippity top of his brothers head. Its been there for days. And will apparently be there for many more. I'm thinking the Magic Eraser is truely amazing. It has dissolved quite a few "T"'s in its day. But I don't know that anyones ever tried using it on hair or in the scalp before. Really, why would they need to. Oh Tyler. T is for Tyler don't you know.

A blustery sort of day...

The weather forecast for today made it look like we would be having another snow day today. So much so, that last night while Brynn was at dance class I ran over to the grocery store next door to stock up on important snow day necessities... like milk, bread, popcorn, and snowman marshmellows to go in the hot chocolate. And while the night was loud and wild and the snow fell, morning came and they had the roads under control. So there was school. That meant I was out at 7am carving a path through the snow from our house all the way down to the bus stop...

And after I worked my way down and turned to come back, I realized that with the blustery sort of wind and the ever falling snow I needed to also shovel my way back. And do the driveway again. And so I was out shoveling for an hour and twenty minutes. And the boys decided to come out and join me. And they spent the rest of the morning coming and going. And I feel like I spent the rest of the morning bundling and unbundling and finding dryer or warmer gear.
At one point I think it took me 20 minutes just to get these gloves on Dylan...

... It was frustrating to say the least. And then he didn't even keep them on. Sheesh!

And what was Kate doing while we were all very busy
She was a content little thing and played with her new toy from Santa. See?... She grabs and plays with the toys!...
Oh, and she has found her toesies!

And when I left the house that afternoon the garage door went up. But it wouldn't come back down. How does that work?! Or happen!? And then when I went to get Brynn from the bus stop at 3:00pm it didn't come. And it didn't come. Turns out there was a kinda big accident and the bus got stuck behind it. And couldn't move. So it finally turned around and went back to the school and got Tyler. And then they slowly made their way to the bus stop. And I finally saw the bus with my kids a little after 4pm. They came off the bus together the two of them... too cute! I was so proud of Brynn for taking care of her brother. And the phone number for the bus garage has now found its way into my cell phone.
It just seemed like a very blustery sort of day.

Baby Alive

The boys have been having fun with Kate lately...

She's their little princess.

They think its fun to dress her up...
(yep sneak peek at Halloween 2011 - gotta love how on top of things I am)
And give her toys...
And play peek-a-boo with her...
Gotta keep my eyes and ears open at all times. They are very 'helpful'.

a hairy situation

About a year and 9 1/2 months ago we had an incident. Remember this... http://keddyskorner.blogspot.com/2009/03/scissor-privilege.htmlText Color
An incident that involved an almost 5 year old Brynn and a pair of scissors. An incident that resulted in her losing, besides some hair, her scissor priviledge for a VERY long time (except for all necessary or school exceptions). And I thought we were on the same page again. I thought she and I had an understanding. Until we had another incident. An incident that involved a 6 year old Brynn, a pair of scissors, and her 3 year old friend Ally!??!?!??! Yes, I was trying to be a helpful friend. A bit after Brandi had her twins I had the older two girlies over to play so Brandi could take a little nap. And the three girls were upstairs playing babies, and drawing with the art easel, and doing their hair. Innocent enough. Or so I thought. Turns out Brynn waxed creative in other ways...
...not cool!!! Turns out I wasn't being so helpful after all. I didn't know how to apologize and explain to my friend Brandi, that while being supervised at my house, her daughter had gotten her bangs wacked off!? Especially after she had just spent the last year trying to grow them out from when Ally had previously done it herself. Really, what do you say?! What could I say!? Nothing. But Brynn obediently sat down, without hesitation, to write Brandi a note...

Not that it makes up for her momentary loss of judgement in any way. But hopefully it counts for something...

Sleepy head, Sloppy mouth

For the last two nights Tyler has gone missing. We haven't been able to find him as we checked on the kids before we went to bed. And after a fun game of hide and seek where have we found him both nights?...
Yep, ya see that lump on the bathroom floor (?!?). That's him. The first night we chalked it up to the fact that he was a little tired/wacky from his anesthesia from his dentist appointment earlier that day (one cavity, oops!). Unfortuantely that night he had also put himself to sleep, after using the potty, right behind that second door and we couldn't get it open to get to him and he was so tired he didn't want to wake up for us. Luckily last night we didn't have the same predicament. But we found him this time because Brynn got up to use the toilet, climbed over him to go, and then asked me why Tyler was sleeping in the bathroom. Didn't have an answer for her.
I am thankful he's remembering to get up and use the potty so we don't have wet bed issues. But geez, I guess I better go scrub my bathroom floor if this keeps up!... OK so probably I should do it anyway. Poor tired boy.
And speaking of poor boy... remember how I mentioned the dentist appointment. He didn't do so swell with a numb mouth and must have ended up bitting his tongue and bottom lip. He couldn't really eat well the past two days and has resorted to just eating yogurt through a straw. Well this is what his sad tongue looked like this morning...
I'm not used to dealing with the dentist much beyond cleaning checks. Guess I need to figure out how to be better prepared for the occassional cavity. I wasn't expecting all this!

4 Month Details!

We finally had Kates 4 month well check today (only 11 days late, that's less than two weeks, not too bad right?!). And while it was a well check, she has been a little sick for the first time, these last two days, with a runny/gunky nose and a poor little cough. But as Dr. Daddy says, "she's fine". And the Dr. on duty today didn't see anything to worry about either (not that I wanted a 2nd opinion ;} She got 3 shots and an oral vaccine and those shots made her a lot more mad than her earrings did (just needed that to go down on the record).
  • She weighed 14.11 lbs which put her at 48th% for weight.
  • She measured 23.43 inches which put her at 11th% for height.
  • Her head was 40.5 cm and her weight-for length was 88th%.
  • And her temp was 96.5 degrees which wasn't a big deal since "she isn't sick". Which PJ assured me was correct since her last two temps at well checks were 96 - 97 degrees. K, I get it.
So, its no secret that I don't love breastfeeding. I actually don't even like it. But I've done it, or at least tried, with all of my kids. My goal with Kate was to get to 4 months. And I did. And now I'm done. So she is obviously getting more bottles these days. And we have discovered that she is already trying to hold them by herself. Which is actually causing problems. Cause like I said, she loves to put her hands in her mouth. So it usually ends with her knocking the bottle out of her mouth...

And a few nights ago we tried giving her her first rice cereal...
Gotta love the first reaction, but then she realized she liked it. Only she likes her hands too...
So it was a very messy thing and I had to hold those dang hands down. She didn't quite get it, the whole eating off a spoon thingy. Not sure how much we'll be working on it right now.
Life is apparently very exciting once you are 4 months! Lots of new things to try...

See ya later addigator!

Clay, Katy, & family moved in with mom & dad over in Indiana just about the same time we moved here to Illinois. And over the past year and a half we have absolutely LOVED being less than 4 hours away from them. There have been countless weekends, holidays, birthdays, celebrations, and visits back 'n forth just cause we could. All too often we can hear Tyler say, "mom I really miss Jat" (aka Jack) or a random "Jat is my best friend!". The kids have loved getting together with 'cousins' and even though its always crazy and they act like siblings ;) we wouldn't have traded this time for anything in the world. But all good things must come to an end (or so they say). The Warrens are moving back to Washington this next week. We would stop them if we could. But we can't. Pretty sure we tried. So instead the kids and I (PJ of course had to work this weekend) drove over to say 'see ya later'.
(Dylan, Brody, Jack, Tyler, Brynn, Kate)

Good times as always :) Pretty sure these two (Brody and Dylan) threw themselves down and had a kicking tantrum at the same time...
... who knows why??!

There were lots of hugs to go around.

Brody loving Kate...

... who wouldn't want one of that kids' open-mouthed slobbery kisses??!
OK, fine. Leave us...
... but not without us sending some of our love with you!! And hopefully we can say... 'after a not too long of a while crocodile!'
