In order to rent a boat from Bonita Bay here on base you have to take an online boat test, complete a ride check, and pass a map quiz. Steve Young went through the trouble to do all that which makes him legal. So we were lucky enough to get to rent a pontoon boat with them and spend our Saturday out on the water (9am to 4pm). It was a wonderfully relaxing way to spend our time and I can't believe we haven't done it before this. Make me want to take all the tests so I can go out whenever I want ;) There were so many dolphins - it never gets old seeing them in the wild. All the kids (okay and adults) got turns driving the boat. We even docked at Shell Island to play and eat lunch. It was neat being on an "island". The kids enjoyed jumping off the dock. It was really interesting to notice the extreme difference in the water on either side of the island - the bay was brown seemed dirty and the gulf was clear and green/blue. Loading up and heading out!...
It was such a gorgeous day.
Finally on Shell Island for the first time...
This is Blake yelling at the boats because they were practically about to run over Preston who was swimming way out there by them... :{
Tyler loved watching this guy take off...
The kids didn't hesitate at all to jump off the boat while we were out in the middle of the water. In fact, it was probably their favorite thing to do. Preston got in to help out Kate. Me, I stayed in the boat... when I start to think about it too much I totally psyche myself out. But I wouldn't let my kids know that because they were having a blast.
Yes Kate, who hasn't taken naps in forever, actually fell asleep for a good chunk of time.
Steve and Preston docked the boat when we technically still had 15 minutes left to play. That made me mad. I didn't want to be done with the day.
