Our Despicable Halloween

I love how my family loves Halloween.  We have fun with it together.  We always work together to pick a theme, and then within that theme everyone gets to be whatever they want.  This year was easy... Despicable Me!
Purple Minion Dave, Margo, Yellow Minion Stuart, the Fluffy Unicorn, Dr Nefario, Gru

Preston came up with this idea for the minions on his own (they are made out of trashcans) and he worked very hard on them.

The generic unicorn costume we bought needed to be transformed into the Despicable Me "Fluffy Unicorn".  So it went from this...

To this...

The kids were actually sick the week the school and the Youth Center were doing their Fall Festivals so we couldn't go.  But not to worry, there were plenty more opportunities to get out and have fun.  One night the Med Group did their Spooktacular.  The kids enjoyed the various activities but only Tyler was willing to go down the haunted hallway with dad.  And at one point I caught Tyler eating popcorn through the eye openings in his costume which was funny looking, but he wouldn't let me get a picture of it.

There was also the Trunk or Treat at the Church.  They were handing out two prizes that evening - one for Best Chili and one for Best Trunk.  The missionaries were the judges.  And we technically received 1st place in both categories - go us!!  But to spread the love they gave us the prize for Best Chili and gave the Trunk Prize to the 2nd place Sharp Family (Frozen Theme).

Actual Halloween was on a Friday this year which was wonderful.  But it sure was a busy day.  My day started out at the school at 7:20am to watch Tyler's Paper bag Parade.  Kids aren't allowed to wear their costumes to school but the 3rd graders had to do a book report and make a paper bag mask out of one of the characters from their book.  Then on Halloween they wore them for their parade.  Tyler read "Diary of a Wimpy Kid" and he and dad made his Greg Heffley paper bag mask together.
Right after the parade was over I went into Kate's classroom to help out with their Pre-K Class Carnival.  They let the Pre-K kids bring their costumes in their backpacks and put them on just for the party.  As it turns out, Kate is not a fan of tug-o-war because they fell and she got hurt.  But hey, her class has Minions Soap at the sink so that's cool :P  Oh, and it was her day to be "class teacher" so she enjoyed that job.

Following several hours of Pre-K fun I went into Dylan's classroom to help with the Kindergarten Fall Festival.  He sure enjoyed his 'cookie'.  And I got to play with him on the playground for a while - doesn't everyone play with kitchen utensils in the sand at their school playground?!? - and he enjoyed showing me all the fun stuff he liked to do out there.

Then after that crazy day we had Trick or Treating of course!  It was a beautiful evening.  I chilled in our driveway while Preston took the kids around.  But Kate didn't last very long because daddy was mean and not only made her walk BUT also carry her own candy bucket - geez!  So she helped me pass out candy while the others went back out for a while.
They fell down and couldn't get back up.  It was kinda funny actually...

So much sugar.  So much fun :)  Kate asks for candy all day long every day now.

We seriously love your costumes! All my kids are saying that we need to do a theme next year with you guys. I LOVE themes but can rarely get people to go along with me. But this might have convinced them.

And I can't stop laughing. I've fallen and I can't get up!!!!!!
