Kate Meets Uncle Steve

Yesterday we drove to Gramma & Grampa's house to spend the holiday week with them and the rest of the Peper family - well, everyone minus the Detros that is :{ We are a little sad about that. But when we arrived Kate got to meet Uncle Steven for the first time. She'll quickly learn what a good uncle he is. And how much fun she'll have with him. Like when he takes you out into the wilderness ;) to roast a good marshmellow...

Or snuggle up with some snacks to watch a good movie or a little football...

Or just hang out...

Weekend Activites

We didn't have a whole lot of activites planned for this weekend... I guess you could call it a more relaxing get together. But the kids got to stay home from school on Friday to play with Grandpa Wilson and they spent a lot of time reading books, playing games, showing him their stuff and just hanging out.
But it was a beautiful 70 degree day (in November?!?!?) and so we got out and showed him around the Base and stopped to play on a playground there for a bit...

And we took him to see the airplanes...

Then Gramma & Grampa Peper and the Warrens got in Friday afternoon. We BBQ'd some dinner and that did us in for the day.

The next morning the weather had sadly taken a turn for the worse and was back in the 50's with clouds. But as we headed home from the kids Primary activity/program practice the sun came out and we decided to head over to the zoo... only to get a call that PJ had a patient in labor that he needed to go deliver real quick. So we waited while he did that, and while we waited the sun went away again. But we went anyway...
...and it was a tad bit chilly. But most of us tried to enjoy ourselves as we walked briskly through the zoo :)
Dylan kept calling Kate our "baby giraffe"...

That night Katy had a good time with Kate...

Kate's Blessing Day!

Kate is 11 weeks old. But we have been waiting to bless her at Church until Grandpa Wilson could get out here - and while Grandpa could have come a little earlier, it also had to be a weekend where daddy wouldn't be working so he could be there too ;) So today was the big day. And she was such a good girl.
My parents and Katy & her family also drove over for the weekend. We loved having so much family here for it!
The men in the blessing circle:
Grandpa Wilson, Daddy, Grampa Peper, Uncle Clay
Now, both of my daughters have their grandfathers' middle names...
Jon Whitney & Kate Whitney
Randall Lee & Brynn Lee

And here is the only dress my baby girls will have shared - their blessing dress. It is the only item of clothing we kept from when Brynn was a baby.

And one more picture of us from Brynn's blessing day on August 8th, 2004

It was a wonderful Sunday. And fortunately it also happened to be the Primary Program in Sacrament Meeting. So everyone got to hear Brynn and Tyler say their parts and sing their songs. They both did so good, they had their parts memorized and stood up and said them without any help or problem. We invited our friends to come and Brandi & Anya Hartman were there to show their love and support!

The weekend was special. We did a few other activities that I will record soon. Unfortunately everyone is gone now and so we've crashed!

Grandpa Wilson!

We picked up Grandpa Wilson from the airport this evening. Its his first trip out here to visit us in Illinois. So we went out to dinner at one of our favorite places to celebrate.
And he got to meet and cuddle with Kate.
They bonded.
She smiled at him lots.
Grandpa thinks they are going to get along just fine.

Capturing Cuteness

This week we are finally finishing up another long work month for daddy - "long", meaning lots of hours clocked and lots of time spent trying to catch up on sleep. And so of course, while he's doing that, we are having our own long month at home with lots of ups and downs. And I found myself trying to capture the ups, the cute and fun moments we were having, since this month was also full of sad news and I didn't want the bad to start outweighing the good.

Yep, life is still good!
Dylan's bedtime timeout in the garage...

And finally, just a little video (obviously only for the sound) of Kate "laughing". She's starting to try and make a few sounds and I love this one when she manages to work it out...
